I'll be visiting Oxford from the 17th-29th of June and will be looking for anyone interested to come and join us in gaining confidence and knowledge in shooting models. Xeniamodel is an experienced model and I've been shooting this kind of thing for 6 years, with many more years experience of teaching, so this will be a great opportunity for anyone interested in starting out in this area. We will be primarily teaching how to make the most of natural light, but will be modifying this with reflectors and talking about how we could change this with other lighting setups.
Working around Oxford and surrounding areas - there are numerous locations available for both urban and rural shoots - the theme will be flexible depending on the weather and what you're interested in learning, but we will ensure that you get the most from this shoot and leave knowing much more than you arrived with.
All you need is a camera, and we'll do the rest.
The cost of this tuition, including the model fees, will be £30 for 1hr or £50 for 2hrs, with additional tuition on processing at a time of your choosing (possible via Skype or at a nearby coffee shop after the shoot) for £15/hr. As of posting this casting, most times/dates are free so get in touch with your preferred timings and we can work around you - although we may then allow a maximum of one other photographer to join us at the same time. Group bookings are also welcome - so please get in touch to discuss this at a discounted rate.
This is open to anyone, do you want photos for your model portfolio, some head shots, something for a magazine or something just for yourself? Do you want some photos taking for your business? Do you want some photos of your pet or child? Or even an engagement? I am going to experiment with shooting anything you like for free (within a reasonable distance!) and you can simply pay for the photos once you've seen them.
I am happy to shoot anything, it's all up to you. Anything outdoors, in your own home or spaces you have access to... all good. Let's see what we can do for free.
Locations and dates:
- Oxford: 20-25th May
- North Yorkshire: 28th May onward
Drop me a message if you have an idea!..
Having been visiting her down in Oxford for the week, the light coming in through the window was just too good to miss, so I grabbed the ever-trusty 50mm 1.8 lens and spent an hour or so getting yet more photos!
You can find more about Xenia over at her website: www.xenia_model.co.uk
If you'd like to book a shoot yourself, just click on the 'About' section at the top and I'd be happy to discuss it with you.
When Ksenia came to visit last month, it was hard not to make the most of an empty house during the day... and this is what we came up with in a rather rushed shoot with a small amount of natural light.
You can follow Ksenia on her new Instagram account here.
York's very own soapbox challenge...
I was only there for a short amount of time, but it looked pretty good considering it's only in its second year!
I seem to have a talent at finding new faces to photograph, perhaps I should be a scout rather than photographer, and I was at it again last December. I've had to wait a while before sharing this shoot as it was hopefully going to be published, and eventually it was, you can find the set here: nifmagazine.com/living-room-mat-robinson/. It's a little more risque than my average shoot, so probably best not to be looking at it at work.
The shoot itself was an interesting one. A matter of turning up and making the most of a general sitting room, using cushions as bedding, some net curtains as a diffuse backlight and minimal artificial lighting. It's nice to challenge yourself sometimes.
Charley was great though, very comfortable in front of the camera and found posing very natural... so I have plenty of photos to be working with!
